Located on the lands of the Ngarrindjeri Nation, Goolwa is a proud Cittaslow town—Australia’s first, in fact. The Cittaslow movement promotes a better quality of life through sustainability and community connection. Since being internationally accredited in 2007, Cittaslow Goolwa has worked with the Alexandrina Council to celebrate the region’s unique character and slower pace of life. Today, they continue to support other communities interested in joining the global Cittaslow network.
