Better known on air as Deep Sea Davey, Dave Cobbett brings the early morning airwaves to life every Wednesday from 4am. His radio name is a nod to his adventurous past — years spent on deep sea voyages, a lifelong love of ships and the ocean, and his time performing in the Cornish Sea Shanty group The Pirates of St. Piran, where “Deep Sea Davey” was his proud pirate moniker.
Dave’s deep connection to music has followed him across oceans and decades. A keen acoustic guitarist and folk singer, he regularly performs at folk and acoustic clubs, always on the lookout for powerful, soulful, or simply joyful music to share. For Dave, presenting on Alex FM is more than a hobby — it’s the realisation of a lifelong dream.
