Joined Alex FM: 2017

Martyn Wilkinson brings a lifetime of musical curiosity and radio enthusiasm to Alex FM. A seasoned community radio presenter, Martyn first experimented with broadcasting using his family’s Astor stereogram as a child, and later took to the airwaves with a Midnight to Dawn shift on 8 Top FM in Darwin. His love for melody-driven music and meaningful lyrics has shaped the identity of his show, and his contribution to community radio continues to reflect his thoughtful and authentic approach.

Since joining Alex FM in 2017, Martyn has become a familiar voice for listeners who appreciate music with depth and character. His tastes are broad, but always centred on strong melodies and musical craftsmanship — a reflection of his favourite artist, Gilbert O’Sullivan, and the timeless appeal of his all-time favourite song, Alone Again (Naturally).

Martyn is also active in the broader community, with involvement in Arts National Victor Harbor and the Strathalbyn Woodshed. Now retired from a career in glass tempering and aluminium fabrication, he brings the same care and precision to his broadcasting as he did to his trade.
