Meet Ando

Joined Alex FM: 2022

Tony Anderson, affectionately known on-air as “Ando,” brings warmth, nostalgia, and a strong sense of community to Alex FM every Wednesday afternoon. With a passion for the timeless sounds of the 60s and 70s, Tony’s show is more than just a musical trip down memory lane — it’s a heartfelt tribute to the artists and local heroes that shaped the world around us.

Tony joined Alex FM in 2022, having previously dipped his toes into radio with brief experiences at Christian broadcaster Alta Mira and 107.9 Life FM. His background as a financial planner, combined with community work and a lifelong love of music, gives him a unique perspective that resonates with listeners across generations.

Outside the studio, Tony is an active member of several community groups, including the Strathalbyn Wood Shed, his local Church of Christ, and Teen Challenge, where he contributes as a volunteer. He also drives a school bus part-time, bringing his approachable, down-to-earth personality into everything he does.

About this program

Singalong with Ando is a warm and welcoming musical experience built around the biggest hits of the 1960s and 1970s — classic tracks that are perfect for singing along, reminiscing, and simply enjoying.

Tony also brings thoughtful storytelling and community spirit to the program through two unique segments:

  • “Where Are They Now?” – Catching up with former presenters and community figures to learn what they’ve been up to since stepping away from the mic.
  • “Unsung Heroes” – Short interviews that highlight everyday people making a difference through community service or local contributions.

Featuring favourite artists like The Seekers, Glen Campbell, Daniel O’Donnell, and John Williamson, Singalong with Ando strikes a balance between laid-back entertainment and genuine connection — all tied together with a smile.
