Meet Nora Robinson
Joined Alex FM: 2020
Nora Robinson has radio in her blood — ever since she got her first “trannie” (transistor radio) as a teenager, she’s been hooked on the magic of broadcasting. After retiring from a career in Corporate Communications across both public and private sectors, Nora dove into community radio, learning the ropes at Radio Adelaide, then honing her skills at 5EBI, before finally finding her radio home at Alex FM in 2020.
A sea change brought Nora to Goolwa, and with it, a wonderful discovery: the town had its own community station. Since joining Alex FM, she’s become a much-loved member of the team — always keen to connect with locals and share her passion for music and storytelling.
Nora has a broad taste in music, from 70s singer-songwriters like Carole King, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne & James Taylor, to classic rock and even the occasional disco track. Among her all-time favourite songs are Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen or September by Earth, Wind & Fire.
For Nora, community radio is all about people and connection. She values the friendships formed at the station and loves expanding her musical horizons through her involvement. When she’s not behind the mic, she’s always keeping an eye out for new opportunities to get involved in the local community.
About this program
Every Tuesday from 3–6pm, Nora brings a feel-good blend of easy listening, soft rock, and a dash of the unexpected to the airwaves with Happy Hour. Drawing on tunes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, the show is warm, nostalgic, and full of familiar favourites — perfect for unwinding with a smile.
Listeners can also look forward to the fan-favourite “Dancersize” segment, featuring upbeat disco and classic rock tracks to get you moving — whether you’re dancing in the kitchen or tapping your toes in the car.
Nora’s show regularly features interviews with local people, shining a light on upcoming events and stories within the Goolwa and Fleurieu community.
