Meet Sonia
Joined Alex FM: 2024
Sonia’s love for radio began in her early twenties when she completed a radio presenting course and went on to host shows on Happy FM (formerly Great Southern FM) and Coast FM in Adelaide. After some time away from the microphone, her passion for community broadcasting reignited in 2016 when she joined Fleurieu FM. By 2024, she became a part of the Alex FM family, bringing her experience and enthusiasm back to the local airwaves.
Driven by a desire to connect with her community, Sonia joined Alex FM to meet new people and become more involved in local life. Her background in marketing and project management gives her a natural flair for communication, and her vibrant personality shines through in every show.
When it comes to music, Sonia’s heart lies in rock, blues, and heavy rock. Her favourite artist at the moment is Kaleo, and her all-time favourite songs are a tie between “Black Betty” by Ram Jam and “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits.
Sonia is a strong advocate for the power of community radio—she loves the freedom to curate her own playlist and the opportunity to shine a spotlight on local stories, events, and services. Outside the studio, she continues to give back as a proud member of the Rotary Club of Goolwa
