Ron Coveney brings a warm and welcoming presence to the Alex FM airwaves with his easy-listening program In the Mood. A passionate radio enthusiast, Ron began his broadcasting journey with Hills Radio, where he spent three years honing his skills before the station’s closure. When the opportunity to join Alex FM arose, he eagerly returned to the mic, ready to share his love of music with a new audience.
With a lifelong appreciation for melody and lyrics, Ron’s tastes span across genres — though he admits he’s never quite taken to heavy metal. A former “folky” at heart, his musical roots include artists like Judith Durham & The Seekers, and his all-time favourite song is the timeless classic Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Before retiring, Ron spent his professional life as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, working both in Australia and abroad. Now, his focus is on connecting with the community through music, and contributing to the unique and welcoming spirit of Alex FM.
